GERRARD BACKS MOYES

Manchester United will be going into the new Premier league season with the new manager at the helm for the first time in history. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said that he hopes that the impressive record United have had of not wobbling over the course of the season changes under new manager David Moyes. United have rarely shown signs of weaknesses over the course of a Premier league season. It has been partly responsible for them lifting 13 Premier league titles since its inception main 1992.

However, Gerrard is of the opinion that they will have matches in which they will struggle unlike in the past due to the absence of Sir Alex Ferguson, who is widely regarded as one of the best managers in the world. Despite this, Gerrard is confident that United will be up there challenging for the title once again because he thinks David Moyes is also a good manager. Many will be unsure of what to expect from United under the new management. However, Gerrard thinks that people can expect the same job that he did at Everton.

Moyes was the manager of Everton for more than a decade during which time he managed to keep them in contention for a European place despite being on a low budget.

“They have replaced a world-class manager with another, who has done a fantastic job at Everton. So I think David will continue to do a good job there. It’s new for Manchester United. From a biased point of view, let’s hope they have a wobble! I think they have too many good players to fall out of the title race. They have world-class players and I expect them to fight for the league again. There’s no getting away from it,” said Gerrard, who expects Tottenham and Arsenal to also challenge for the title.
