Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper would be at the newly promoted Premier League club for the foreseeable future after he signed a new deal. Cooper has signed an extension to his Nottingham Forest contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.

PRESSURE EASES ON GERRARD AFTER WIN

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard was under a lot of pressure ahead of his team’s home clash with Mersey side outfit Everton in the Premier League. Steven Gerrard coped pressure after his team lost to newly promoted team Bournemouth on the opening weekend of the season.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard watched on from the sidelines as hosts Bournemouth ran out 2-0 winners at the expense of his team. Jefferson Lerma scored the opener in the first half to give the Cherriesa slender lead at the half-time break. The win was sealed in the second half thanks to the goal from Welshman Kiefer Moore. VILLA IN THREE-WAY BATTLE FOR COLLINS

Aston Villa are reportedly in a three-day battle to sign Republic of Ireland international Nathan Collins from relegated Premier League side Burnley during this summer’s transfer. This is according to the report from British media outlet talkSPORT which stated that two other teams in the Premier League are keen to sign the Irish centre back. Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has targeted central defence as an area for new players and Collins is said to be under serious consideration for the job. Apart from Aston Villa, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also interested in signing the former Stoke City player.


Steven Gerrard has already his team at the heart of defence this summer with the signing of Brazilian player Diego Carlos from Sevilla in the Spanish top flight and he could add the aforementioned Collins to his options.Villa signed Carlos from Sevilla in a deal said to be worth around £21m.

LIVERPOOL: GERRARD ALMOST DELIVERED LEAGUE TITLE

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard almost delivered the league title for his beloved club while almost maintaining his professionalism after his Aston Villa almost produced a monumental result against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

VILLA TRIO OUT OF WATFORD GAME

The Aston Villa trio of Marvelous Nakamba, Bertrand Traore and EzriKonsa will miss the visit of struggling Watford in the Premier League this weekend according to Steven Gerrard. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard gave the update on his team ahead of the Hornets game during a press conference on Friday. According to him, all the other players are in contention except the abovementioned trio.

Villa boss Gerrard told reporters that nothing has changed from the injury update he gave last week ahead of the Premier League trip to face Newcastle United at St. James Park and that Nakamba, Konsa and Traore will miss the Watford game. His team produced one of worst performances under his watch against the Magpies as they lost 1-0 courtesy the first half free-kick from Englishman Kieran Trippier who joined Newcastle United from Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid at the start of January.

GERRARD TAKES VILLA INTO TOP HALF

Aston Villa have undergone a quick transformation for the better under new manager Steven Gerrard within a short space of time. Villa were on a run of five consecutive defeats in the Premier League when senior club officials turned to Steven Gerrard as the replacement forthe sacked Dean Smith. Since then, Villa have been looking up rather than down with Gerrard in the dugout. He has won four of his six league games as the Villa manager and that has propelled the team into the top half of the table. The Liverpool legend met Aston Villa  in the bottom five but he has been able to take them to tenth spot on the back of the away win over Norwich City on Tuesday night.

Steven Gerrard began his Villa career with a win in the Premier League via a 2-0 success at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. SCOTTISH LEAGUE: RANGERS EXTEND VICTORY RUN

Scottish Premiership champions Rangers have extended their winning run to three games after their comeback victory at St. Johnstone. Rangers had to work hard to seal a 2-1 win over their hosts with all the three goals coming in the second half.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard returned to the Rangers dugout for the away game at St. Johnstonein the league after Covid-19 ruled him out of the last game at home to Celtic in the Old Firm Derby. Without Steven Gerrard on the sidelines, Rangers claimed bragging rights in the Old Firm Derby thanks to the goal from Swedish national team centre back Filip Helander in the second half. WINGER LEFT OUT OF LIVERRPOOL SQUAD

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has been left out of the 34-man squad heading to Austria for a pre-season training camp. Ojo was the obvious name missing when the squad for Austria was announced earlier this week. Liverpool head to Austria to start their training camp on Monday, July 12. There was no news on the reason for his omission from the Reds squad travelling to Salzburg, Austria at the start of next week to start preparations for the 2021/22 campaign.

Ojo has two years left on his current deal with Liverpool though a recent poll monitored by the Liverpool Echo showed that 80% of the Reds fans who participated won’t mind seeing him leave the club this summer.

On the possibility of the Rangers boss taking over at Villa Park, ex-Premier League striker Kevin Philips said the former European champions are in a safe pair of hands with Dean Smith before adding that Steven Gerrard has a bright future ahead of him at Rangers.
